008 Discussion: virtual_week three

What is every parliamentary function could be done online? What would that entail?

Virtual is/means...

  • No boundaries
  • Imagined
  • Invisible
  • Wider access from any locations
  • Mobile
  • Loss of barriers between cultures
  • Different perceptions
  • Ability to bring back memories via technology
  • Not physical
  • Security is absent/ intangible
  • No power ranking
  • Disconnected time
  • Projected images
  • Lack of touch
  • Control/ lack of control
  • Augmented realities

Is there really a need for parliament city – does it need a physical base?

Within parliament there are different agencies such as health, trade, immigration, security, campaigns and finance. How can architecture be used as a device/ means for these services to occur? How can this be linked to the virtual layer?

HEALTH SCENARIO

Health Sector Includes:

  • Nurses
  • Doctors
  • Patients
  • Administration
  • Ambulances
  • Policy makers... etc

How can architecture be used to assist in the running of the health sector?

  • · Colour can be used to guide movement through a space
  • · Organised space
  • · Proximity to spaces
  • · Wide entrance spaces

How could virtual architecture be used to assist in the running of the health sector?

  1. Rooms that use technology to help the patients perceive a space from their past that brings good memories therefore promoting positive attitudes towards healing. Can be conducted via light shows/ holograms that would adjust to the patient’s thoughts and moods.
  2. Use of simulation rooms to help the doctors practise in real life situations (could be very useful in a military/ security situation for the training)
  3. Virtually transmitted holograms of people that help in the practise of surgeries from all around the world
  4. Use of virtual systems to connect different hospitals together to share resources and information
